| Abstract | ||
| Water quality is very important during the reproduction and rearing of sturgeons. Considering that the required water is supplied through surface or underground water, therefore, necessary measures should be taken to improve the quality of water used. For sturgeon farming, the amount of dissolved iron and dissolved manganese should be less than 0.2-0.5 m/l and 0.1 m/l, respectively. In underground waters where dissolved oxygen is low, iron and manganese exist in bivalent, together and soluble forms. For this reason, it is necessary to remove iron and manganese from underground water. Aeration can help to settle and reach the amount of iron and manganese to a non-toxic level for fish (depending on age and species). Another common method to remove iron and manganese is ozonation with filtration or with sedimentation and filtration. Providing a sufficient level of residual ozone at the end of the ozone chamber (to ensure precipitation of iron and manganese and water disinfection) also requires that the residual ozone be removed before the water reaches the fish tanks. | ||
