Abstract
Seed storage proteins were used to study genetic relationship between several populations of Thymus species, using electrophoresis method. Nine populations of three Thymus species were collected from north and north west of the country. SDS-PAGE method of electrophoresis was employed to investigate the seed storage proteins. The obtained bands from protein profile were studied and recorded in presence and absence style and their relative movement were also measured. The data were analyzed and the populations were grouped in 4 different classes. Populations of T. kotschyanus were located in the first group. A population of T. persicus was located in the second group. Two populations of T. persicus were located in the third group and the populations of T.pubscens were located in the forth group.
