Abstract
Background and Objectives
Paying attention to the nutritional status of orchards in the form of a coherent and precise management program is one of the options that plays an important role in producing high-quality and high-yielding products. Pomegranate production plays an important role in the production and employment of the Tang-Siyab-Kuhdasht region of Lorestan Province, and so far, no research has been conducted on the nutritional status of pomegranate orchards in this region. The lack of reference norms for each region makes it difficult to assess the condition of fruit trees, and therefore it is necessary to determine reference numbers for each type of fruit in each region using scientific methods. For this purpose, the Compositional Nutrient Diagnosis (CND) method was used to assess the nutritional status of these orchards.
Materials and Methods
For this study, 50 orchards were selected in the study area. In order to assess the nutritional status of the orchard soil, soil sampling was carried out in a composite manner from two depths of 0-30 and 30-60 cm. Simultaneous sampling of orchard leaves was also carried out in a composite manner in late July. The measured element values in the soil were compared with the critical limit table of soil nutrients for pomegranate, and the interpretation of the leaf analysis results was performed using the compositional nutrient diagnosis (CND) method.
Results
The results of soil analysis of pomegranate orchards in the region showed that in addition to low organic matter in the soil, phosphorus, zinc, iron and manganese elements were below the critical limit in most orchards. The results of leaf analysis and interpretation of the leaf test results using the compositional nutrient diagnosis (CND) method showed that the potassium index is negative in 36% of the gardens, the phosphorus index in 32% of the gardens, the nitrogen index in 60% of the gardens, the copper index in 46% of the gardens, the zinc index in 52% of the gardens, the iron index in 56% of the gardens, the manganese index in 60% of the gardens, and the residual compounds index in 62 gardens are negative. Therefore, the order of element requirements in the studied gardens is first residual compounds, then nitrogen, manganese, iron, zinc, copper, potassium, and phosphorus, respectively.
Conclusion
A study of pomegranate orchard soils in the Tang-Siyab-Kuhdasht region showed that the amount of organic carbon at the two depths studied in most orchards is low, and in order to increase the available nitrogen in the soil in this area, attention should be paid to the use of organic fertilizers. In addition, in the soil of the studied orchards, the elements phosphorus, zinc, iron and manganese were below the critical limit in most orchards. The results of the interpretation of the Burger analysis using the multiple detection method showed that the order of element requirements in the studied orchards is first the residual compounds, then nitrogen, manganese, iron, zinc, copper, potassium and phosphorus, respectively. In order to increase the yield and quality of pomegranate fruit in the studied orchards, it is recommended to use nitrogen fertilizer in installments and other elements as fertilizer in the orchards.
