| Introduction: This study reports and describes a rare morphological anomaly observed in the telson of Hemiscorpius jiroftensis collected from Khuzestan Province, Iran. This represents the first documentation of such an abnormality in this species. Materials & Methods: Systematic field surveys were carried out in Baghmalek, Khuzestan Province, southwest Iran, in December 2025. A morphologically unusual specimen of H. jiroftensis was collected and identified using standard morphological keys. The specimen was examined under a Leica MZ 7.5 stereomicroscope, and morphometric measurements were taken using a Guanglu digital caliper. High-resolution photographs of the external morphology and abnormal structures were captured using a Canon digital imaging system. Results: A rare anomaly present exclusively on the telson of the scorpion is described and illustrated. Morphological measurements of the specimen are also presented. This constitutes the first documented case of telson anomaly in H. jiroftensis. The causes of such anomalies in scorpions remains unclear. Conclusion: This study provides the first report of a telson anomaly in H. jiroftensis. The detailed morphological documentation and measurements of this rare specimen enhance our understanding of developmental anomalies in scorpions and serve as a foundation for future research on teratology in the genus Hemiscorpius. | ||

| مقدمه: این مطالعه با هدف گزارش و توصیف یک ناهنجاری مورفولوژیک نادر مشاهده شده در نیش (اکولئوس) عقرب Hemiscorpius jiroftensis جمع‌آوری شده از استان خوزستان، ایران، و ارائه اولین مستندسازی از چنین ناهنجاری در این گونه انجام شد. مواد و روش‌ها: بررسی‌های سیستماتیک میدانی در دی‌ماه ۱۴۰۴ (دسامبر ۲۰۲۵) در باغملک، استان خوزستان، در جنوب غربی ایران انجام شد. یک نمونه دارای ظاهر مورفولوژیک غیرعادی از H. jiroftensis جمع‌آوری و با استفاده از کلیدهای شناسایی تاکسونومیک استاندارد شناسایی گردید. نمونه زیر استریومیکروسکوپ Leica MZ 7.5 بررسی شد و اندازه‌گیری‌های مورفومتریک با استفاده از کولیس دیجیتال Guanglu انجام گردید. تصاویر با وضوح بالا از ریخت‌شناسی خارجی و ساختارهای غیرعادی با استفاده از سیستم تصویربرداری دیجیتال Canon ثبت شد. یافته‌ها: یک ناهنجاری نادر که به طور انحصاری روی نیش عقرب وجود داشت، توصیف و تصویرسازی شد. اندازه‌گیری‌های مورفولوژیک نمونه ثبت و ارائه گردید. این اولین مورد مستند شده از ناهنجاری نیش در H. jiroftensis محسوب می‌شود. علل بروز چنین ناهنجاری‌هایی در عقرب‌ها همچنان ناشناخته باقی مانده است. نتیجه‌گیری: مطالعه حاضر اولین گزارش از ناهنجاری نیش در H. jiroftensis را ارائه می‌دهد. مستندسازی دقیق مورفولوژیک و اندازه‌گیری‌های این نمونه نادر به درک ناهنجاری‌های تکاملی در عقرب‌ها کمک کرده و به عنوان پایه‌ای برای تحقیقات آینده در زمینه تراتولوژی (ناهنجاری‌شناسی) در جنس همیاسکورپیوس عمل می‌کند. | ||
