| Abstract | ||
| Introduction Wheat as a strategic crop has a special place among agricultural products, so that this plant in Khorasan Razavi province with about 290 thousand hectares of cultivated area is considered as the most important crop. Despite the harms and dangers of spraying, the use of chemical pesticides is still the main method of weed control of agricultural products in Iran. The main weaknesses of weed management in wheat fields are late control, use of inappropriate spraying equipment and their low quality. Accordingly, the use of methods and technologies that can eradicate weeds in wheat fields without causing the mentioned damages and with minimal pollution of water and soil resources has been considered by research centers and leading farmers. The use of agricultural drones, especially spraying drones, is a new method for smartening and increasing spraying efficiency in farms and gardens. The objective of the present work was to evaluation of sprayer drone for control of wheat weeds to compare with conventional methods. Materials and Methods In this study, the performance of drone (UAV) sprayers in comparison with other common methods of chemical control of wheat weeds in late March 2021 in Quchan was investigated. The performance of the drone sprayer and turboliner sprayer was evaluated for weed control in wheat fields. Control of Malcolmia africana and Chorisporatenella as Broadleaf weed was carried out in 2-4 leaf stage at the time of wheat tillering. 2,4-D+MCPA (67.5%) was used at the rate of 1.5 liter per hectare to control broadleaf weeds. The area of each experimental plot was 2.5 hectar. The studied parameters were field capacity and field efficiency of sprayers, solution consumption, Volume Median Diameter (VMD), Number Median Diameter (NMD), spraying quality coefficient, drift, energy consumption, crushing rate of wheat, economic evaluation and sprayer's effectiveness. Results and Discussion The results showed that the drone sprayer and turboliner sprayer had 15 and 364.97 liters solution per hectare, 11% and 38.6% rate of drift, 9.47 and 6.33 hectar per hour field capacity, and energy consumption of 2128 and 11980 kJ respectively. Spray quality coefficient in drone sprayer and turboliner sprayer were 1.53 and 2.18, respectively. In 30 days after spraying, significant difference was observed between treatments in terms of operation effectiveness. The effectiveness of spraying with a drone in controlling broadleaf weeds (reducing the density of weeds) was about 40% higher than that of a turboliner sprayer, and the type of sprayer did not affect the dry weight of weeds. The cost per hectare of using drone sprayer was 50% higher than turboliner sprayer. Conclusion In UAV sprayer, in addition to the high quality of spraying in terms of uniformity, drift rate is lower than turboliner sprayer and the solution consumption is significantly reduced. In UAV sprayer, the Volume Median Diameter (VMD) was 487 microns, the number Median Diameter (NMD) was 225.6 microns and the spray quality coefficient was 1.53, which had a better spray uniformity than the turboliner sprayer. The field capacity of the UAV sprayer was 9.47 hectares per hour, which is higher than turboliner sprayer (6.3 hectares per hour). The energy consumption of the UAV sprayer was 2128 kJ.ha-1, and this amount is 5.6 times lower than turboliner sprayer. In terms of performance, drone sprays was higher than turboliner sprayer. In general, drone sprayer had less spraying of herbicide solution and less energy consumption per hectare and higher field efficiency than the other other one. In general, the drone sprayer performed better than turboliner sprayer in all the studied parameters. | ||
