Abstract
In this research, in order to expand and promote of long-line vessels fishing for sustainable fishing on August to October months of 2020, sea patrols were carried out on the shores of the Oman Sea by the long-liner Siam III vessel. During the fishing period performed 13 hooks deployment and 69% of these operations were with successful fishing. During the hooks deployment, a total of 81 fish were caught, which 34 were yellowfin tuna with an average length and weight of 144±32 cm and 48±23 kg, respectively. There was a significant difference in yellowfin catch during different periods of hooks deployment (P <0.05). The average catch of yellowfin tuna was 132 (479-32) kg and 3 (8.5 - 0.59) yellowfin tuna fish for 100 hooks. The highest bycatch rate of long line fishing was 75% for Rays species and catch percentage of this species was significantly different compared to by-catch other types (P <0.05). The Common dolphinfish, biilfish and shark species accounted the remaining percentage of by-catch fishing. This research shows that in the region has capacity to expand the long liner vessel for catch yellowfin tuna fish.
