| Abstract | ||
| In order to investigate effect of red pepper powder in comparison to Verginyamaycin antibiotic on Performance, blood biochemical factors, intestinal histomorphology and microflora in quail, 240 one-day quail chicks were randomly divided into 5 treatments. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design with 5 treatments, 4 replicates and 12 birds in each replicates. The quails were fed a basal diet with no additive as control group and 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6% red pepper and 0.02% of antibiotic. Feed intake and body weight gain was calculated for estimation of feed conversion ratio. At the end of experimental period, 2 quails form each replicates were slaughtered. Also the blood serum samples were collected for hematologic analysis. For determining intestinal characteristics, a number of small intestine samples from ileum were collected and some digesta examined for intestinal microflora. The results showed that improvement of body weight gain and feed intake were found in groups fed by red pepper 0.6% significantly. The best body weight gains and feed conversion was observed in red pepper 0.6%. The results reveled that some hematologic parameters were increased in groups fed by red pepper and antibiotic significantly. Intestinal histomorphology showed increased in villi height and depth, in treated groups fed by red pepper and antibiotic. The escherichia coli colonies were decreased and lactobacilli were increased by using red pepper and antibiotic significantly. As a conclusion we could demonstrate that red pepper powder 0.6%, significantly improved the Performance, intestinal histomorphology and microflora of Japanese quail. | ||
